Dr. Julie Furst-Bowe

Dr. Julie Furst-Bowe currently serves as an Academic Vice President in the Wisconsin Technical College System (USA). The campuses she oversees enroll more than 20,000 students annually. Previous to this position, Dr. Furst-Bowe served as Chancellor of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Provost at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, the first and only university recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Dr. Furst-Bowe has served as a senior Baldrige examiner and as a member of the National Board of Overseers for the Baldrige Program. She is currently on the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Center for Performance Excellence, a judge for the Performance Excellence Network and Chair-Elect of the American Society for Quality’s Education Division. She is involved in the Higher Learning Commission as an Advanced Peer Reviewer, Team Chair, Assessment Academy Mentor and she is a member of the commission’s Institutional Action Council. She has given numerous national and international presentations on quality improvement in education and has written several articles and edited two books on this topic. She also serves as an assessor for the UAE’s Government Excellence Program. Julie received her doctorate of education from the University of Minnesota and her dissertation on the use of learning technology in education and training received the highest award from the International Society for Performance Improvement.
