Mark Brown is Ireland’s first Full Professor of Digital Learning and Director of the National Institute for Digital Learning (NIDL) at Dublin City University (DCU). He is an EDEN Fellow and serves on the Executive Committee of the European Distance and eLearning Network (EDEN). Mark also serves on the Supervisory Board of the European Association of Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU) and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Open, Distance Learning Association of Australia (ODLAA). In recent years, Mark has been associated with several micro-credentialing initiatives, including the ECIU University initiative and development of the Common European Micro-credential Framework for MOOCs. He is co-author of a major report on the future of alternative digital credentials published by the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) and currently serves on the European Commission’s Consultation Group on Micro-credentials. Additionally, Prof. Brown has played a leadership role in the launch of DCU’s first credit-bearing micro-credential on the FutureLearn platform.
