Laura Ewing serves as the president and Chief Executive Officer of the Texas Council on Economic Education (TCEE). She has served as an adjunct professor at University of Houston Clear Lake in the subject of curricular methodology for kindergarten through grade 12 preservice teachers. Ewing has provided hundreds of workshops on content, teaching strategies, and methodology to teachers, parents, and university professors. Before working with TCEE, Ewing served as a social studies curriculum specialist. As a classroom instructor, she taught for 24 years, with most of her experience involving economics and government curricula.

She recently traveled to London, East Africa, and India to study Islamic history and culture as the guest of His Highness the Aga Khan as part of a program for social studies coordinators supported by the Texas legislature and jointly sponsored by the Aga Khan Developmental Network and The University of Texas at Austin. She is also the area ambassador for Raise Your Hand Texas, a nonpartisan group that advocates for improving public education

Ewing has a bachelor’s degree in secondary social studies education and a master’s in educational leadership. She has received several awards for her contributions to Texas social studies education and served two terms on the city council of Friendswood, Texas.
