The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) is the UK’s quality body for higher education. We are an independent body and a registered charity which is funded through multiple channels of work including accreditation and membership services.

QAA is a world-leading quality agency – trusted and recognised by governments in all four nations of the UK and globally to maintain and enhance quality and standards, QAA is the custodian of some of the key reference points for the UK higher education sector including the UK Quality Code and the UK’s Subject Benchmark Statements. QAA is also a member of the Quality Council for UK Higher Education. In addition, through QAA Membership we deliver services, expertise and guidance on key issues that are important to our member universities and colleges and their students.

We are a full and founding member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) – the umbrella organisation for quality assurance agencies in the European Higher Education Area. Full membership of ENQA shows that an agency complies with the European Standards and Guidelines.

Internationally, QAA provide services to higher education institutions, quality agencies and governments globally. Higher education providers in more than 22 countries have chosen QAA’s International Quality Assurance and International Programme Accreditation to:
