In a matter of weeks, the COVID-19 Pandemic has changed how students around the globe are educated. More than 1,576,021,818 learners representing 91.3% of the student population in over 188 countries were affected. The pandemic crisis has forced educational institutions at all levels as well as regulatory bodies to re-assess and revise long-standing assumptions and practices about education. The changes that have occurred in the past couple of months gave us a us a glimpse of how the educational system could be disrupted forever.

Institutions of learning worldwide have been finding ways to deliver remote teaching and ensure learning continuity during the past three months while still planning for both  the short- and long-term future. A range of strategies and scenarios to ensure business continuity, student safety and the challenging quality learning have been developed at both national and institutional levels ranging from continuing next academic year fully online, to adopting a hybrid model and re-opening campuses for face to face learning.
